Highest Quality & Wide Range Selection

Huge Variety ...

... and Quality that will inspire you!

Since 2001 – when we were founded as a family-run successor company – we have focused on the product area of textile car mats. An archive of more than 2,000 fits for vehicles since around 1965 allows us to supply not only current model series but also many older cars/classic cars and modern classics with custom-fit mats. The range has now been expanded to include custom-fit rubber mats and boot mats.

Advertising mats and logo mats, which are sold through promotional product wholesalers, are a growing pillar of our business. Hörsteler is a member of both PSI, the global network for the promotional products industry, and GWW, the German promotional products association.

History of Hoersteler – a third-generation family business

The foundation stone for Hörsteler Teppichfabrik Wilkens & Lücke GmbH & Co. KG was laid back in 1923, when Bernhard Lücke and Bernhard Wilkens founded the coconut weaving mill B.J. Wilkens GmbH on Bahnhofstraße in Hörstel. This location was deliberately chosen because it had access to high-voltage electricity.

Thanks to the railway connection within walking distance, the raw coconut material was delivered and the coconut runners and mats were shipped directly via Hörstel railway station. Imported coconut fibres were processed on looms. Initially, the focus was on the production of coconut runners and mats for wholesalers and retailers. These were the most important textile floor coverings until the 1970s. Production continued until the 1980s. With the market introduction of durable synthetic fibres made of polyamide and polypropylene, these replaced natural fibres at the top of the market.

Our History

1923 – 2023 >> 100 years of hoersteler … and it goes on …

It all began in 1923 with coconut weaving, but in 1965, hörsteler entered a whole new business field with the production of car mats. Initially, the mats were made of coconut and sisal. With the sale of the looms to Sri Lanka at the end of the 1970s, the company switched to products with a wear layer made of polypropylene and polyamide. By 1984, the millionth Hörsteler® Golden Gate car carpet had been sold. GOLDEN GATE, FESTIVAL and SILBERPFEIL in particular established themselves as brand-name products.

Unique selling points included the nubbed backing made from recycled car tyres and the patented Hörsteler STOPPER, a fastening system for securing the mats in the car. The quality convinced BMW AG, the Volkswagen Group and PORSCHE, so that Hörsteler rose to become an OEM supplier. At its peak, Hörsteler Teppichfabrik Wilkens & Lücke GmbH & Co. KG employed over 130 people. In addition to many car dealerships and parts dealers, the growing number of C&C wholesale markets and self-service department store chains also became loyal customers. They primarily purchased door mats from the large doormat range. Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) equipped the first generations of ICE trains with mats from Hörsteler.

As part of its continuous expansion, Plant 2, a central warehouse in the Hörstel-Ost industrial area, was put into operation in 1988, and its area was doubled in 1991. Changes in the market led to the company ceasing operations on 31 December 2000.

hörsteler in its current form was founded in 2001 by Jürgen-Tobias Lücke with two partners. The company operates under the name Hörsteler Interior Design GmbH. Many customers have remained loyal to the brand. Since 2007, hörsteler has been supplying PORSCHE AG with custom-fit rubber mats. Thanks to its extensive expertise in floor mats, Hörsteler quickly made a name for itself as a renowned supplier of logo mats in the promotional products trade. The ambition was, is and will remain to be successful in the market with products of brand-name quality.

Jürgen-Tobias Lücke has been the sole shareholder and managing director since 2015.
